The IUPUI Center for Translating Research Into Practice (TRIP) is pleased to announce that IU President Pamela Whitten will be the speaker for our annual Keynote event on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 12 noon to 1 pm (Eastern). President Whitten will examine the evolution of collaborative translational research projects from their initial acceptance and application to the analysis of their efficacy and outcomes, and ideally, their formal adoption as policy and/or practice. She will also discuss her vision for the role translational research can play at Indiana University and on the IUPUI campus in the years to come. 
Veronica Derricks, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the IUPUI School of Science. During her presentation, Professor Derricks will present data from experimental studies that illustrate Black Americans' responses to receiving targeted health information. Professor Derricks will also talk about her collaborative work with primary care physicians and Black community members to develop more effective messaging interventions that will improve clinicians' delivery of targeted communication for positive health outcomes in the Black community.

Congratulations to Etta Ward, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development at IUPUI, on being the community recipient of the 2022 Building Bridges Award. The Building Bridges Award honors Indiana University faculty, staff, students, and alumni across Indiana University's campuses who capture Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s spirit, vision, and leadership. Ms. Ward works to cultivate a culture of true belonging regardless of skin tone, background, or faction and fosters spaces for deep listening, reflection, and developing solidarity across factional and racial lines.
