Understanding Evictions and Homelessness Prevention in Marion County
This research was supported by the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) to understand local trends and efforts and national evidence-based practices about how homelessness can be prevented. The work utilized a mixed-methods approach over a year to understand statistical trends in housing affordability, the evictions process, ideal populations to receive prevention-related services, and assessing the existing network of prevention providers across multiple areas (e.g. the criminal justice systems, schools, and healthcare providers). The larger project is currently being developed into smaller reports that can be used by local stakeholders, and which also informed an initial community conversation about Indiana's eviction trends.
