Emotional processing and dysregulation after traumatic brain injury
The facial affect recognition intervention I developed has been deemed a Practice standard for treating emotion perception deficits in patients with neurological injuries. I have been invited to give many workshops on the clinical implementation of this intervention and regularly receive requests from clinicians to access this intervention, for which I make the program and manual available to all. The work that I have conducted on alexithymia has led to the development of an intervention and early stage efficacy of the program, as well as the development of an Electronic App that is available for download on Google Play and iTunes (My Emotional Compass; over 500 downloads). The work that I have done on negative attributions after brain injury has generated psychometric support for the clinical utility of two assessments to measure negative attributions in the TBI population. This work on negative attributions also led several clinicians to create an intervention and conduct a case study.
