Collective Cultural Trauma Construction and Healing through Critical Dialogue on Slavery Within Atlantic Framework
I integrate social science and humanities to engage in collective cultural trauma construction to foster healing, sense of solidarity, and positive identity development of the persons of African descent in the U.S and Ghana. This process entails critical exploration and dialogue around Transatlantic slavery, slavery, and colonialism to identify both trauma and liberating life thriving practices, and discuss ways to disengage from the trauma, and leverage the liberatory practices to foster cultural, psychological, spiritual, and emotional healing. I have used these approaches with families and youth through parenting workshops, participatory youth action research, and positive youth development. I apply them in practice through racial socialization processes.
