Addressing Race, Religion, Antisemitism, and White Nationalism in Schools and Communities
Through evidence and data collected through both qualitative and quantitative means, drawing on learning theory, cultural and cognitive anthropology, and multicultural studies, I have developed a number of frameworks for practice from my research, mostly in collaboration with doctoral students. The first is a framework for schools and communities to address antisemitism and white nationalism in schools that has been shared with school districts and published in both popular academic venues. The second is an approach drawing on contemplative pedagogies based on data collected through a six-week professional development experience to help teachers in predominantly white and Christian schools and communities, which has also been shared with school districts and academic venues. Lastly, based on self-study and analysis of student work, I have developed a framework for embedding the teaching of technology in teacher education in social justice, equity, and inclusion.
