Climate-Landscape-Society Interactions
One aspect of my research utilizes lake sediment archives from the Midwestern United States to develop records of hydroclimate and fluvial processes (discharge and mobility) through time. With these records, I am developing knowledge of how fluvial systems respond to climatic changes and the ways in which human landscape modifications have impacted natural processes. The results of this work are being used by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to understand the ways in which projected climate changes will impact Indiana's fluvial systems and the communities and infrastructure and communities that boarder them. This understanding is in turn being used to help design future infrastructure and develop recovery strategies for communities impacted by flooding.
