Collaborative Knowledge Production through Linked Open Data and Indigenous Historical Data
Collaborative Knowledge Production through Linked Open Data and Indigenous Historical Data seeks to understand how the way we conduct research in digital processes informs and privileges certain types of knowledge and ways of knowing. It asks how the use of technology in the research and production of historical knowledge structures our engagement with indigenous communities. Combining Native American and Indigenous Studies with History and Information Science, the project also seeks to consider how linked open data as a method might offer researchers the possibility to decolonize archives that were assembled in the process of colonization. The ultimate goal of the process is to assist Native knowledge holders in re-contextualizing colonial archives to assert their historical and contemporary sovereignty.
