Irene Queiro-Tajalli
ProfessorAging and Older Iranian Immigrants in the Diaspora
This is an ongoing research project. I have done an extensive review of the literature and used other scholars' research findings to formulate the research instrument to interview older Iranians about their experiences in adapting to this culture. The end result will be the creation of teaching modules for human services providers. The teaching modules will help to understand the 1) type of pre-departure arrangements to facilitate the journey to the United States 2) types of adjustments to the host country 3) joys and struggles of adapting to the host country. The modules will assist practitioners (health and human services providers; psychologists; social workers) to better provide services to this population. This research draws from different disciplines, including Social Anthropology, History, Political Sciences, Psychology, and Social Work.
