Introduction
This site is one result of a multi-year collaborative project, supported by the Charles R. Bantz Chancellor’s Community Fellowship Award at IU Indianapolis, which provides research support for a collaborative research team made up of faculty, staff, student(s), and community partners/members to address a pressing community issue in Central Indiana.
Professors Pamela Napier (Visual Communication Design, Herron School of Art and Design) and Dr. David Craig (Religious Studies, School of Liberal Arts) worked with IU Indianapolis students in multiple courses, engaging insurers and diverse congregational partners to strengthen public interest in low-income Hoosiers’ health and the shared responsibility of supporting continuous health coverage for better wellness and care.
This project, “A New HIP Public,” worked with a variety of stakeholders to understand the process of bringing eligible members to HIP Plus. HIP is the acronym for the Healthy Indiana Plan, which is Indiana’s Medicaid expansion. HIP provides Medicaid coverage to low-income Hoosiers ages 19 to 64 years.

This section offers some background information on Medicaid and HIP, as well as some additional resources.
This section contains a suite of materials including brochures and PowerPoint slides. These materials were developed out of an identified need to be able to share resources and information about HIP Plus—including how to apply, use and keep HIP Plus.
This section highlights previous research and personal accounts of enrolling and staying connected through navigating and advocating the HIP program.
